Teh Ji Han Jeung Dao Kung Fu is a dynamic Chinese based Martial Art.
The system is a fusion of both traditional and modern training methods, from various Asian fighting systems, which form the core foundation of both internal and external training.
At its base level the style works on the centre line theory, found in most southern Kung Fu systems it teachers the student to both attack and control the centre of the body focusing on such targets as the eyes, throat and groin whilst maintaining a strong defensive position.
Once a basic understanding of these principles has been grasped, the depth of the style is endless. We believe that the only limitation you have will be your imagination, and once you begin to become creative in your thinking as a Martial Artist, the system will become personal to you. We wholly encourage dissecting all aspects of the style from punching, trapping, kicking, foot work to stick and knife fighting, so you can take what works effectively and efficiently for you.
There are two half's to the style that make up the whole. Firstly, the physical side will prepare you with numerous ideas and concepts to develop your body and give you techniques that will heighten your overall awareness. This will be in the form of set patterns of movement, which will strengthen your body and speed up reactions. This will also be in the form of sparring using both hands and legs either together or independently. Basic punches, kicks, blocks, Flow drills, footwork, pad and bag work, sport arts and fighting art concepts, are the core of this well-rounded and effective Martial Art.
Secondly, TEH JI HAN JEUNG DAO will also develop mental strength and awareness that learnt along side the physical elements creates an all round style that in part or whole appeals to everyone. To be able to focus the mind in a confrontation we believe will enable you to be better prepared for the unexpected.
Focus and spirit have played a vital role in the development of the Martial warrior for hundreds of years. Before you can ever defeat an aggressor, you must first develop an understanding of your own body.
Once the student has attained a strong understanding of all core techniques and principles within the style the next stage will be naturally on route to intermixing all the above aspects, this integration of skills will allow you to perpetually grow as a Martial Artist and as a person.
The UK Quanfa Academy runs a comprehensive syllabus designed to test the individual's core knowledge at various phases of training. Set over eight phases it will take the student through from beginner to advanced ensuring a strong base knowledge for continued development is laid.
Upon reaching the eighth level of the syllabus students, undertake training towards becoming a senior disciple of the school. These principles are taken from Martial Arts of the old, and we believe that to develop oneself is to develop Martial Arts, and to develop Martial Arts is to develop oneself . We believe that this approach to a realistic fighting style and one that develops you as an individual is close to the core of many 'traditional' Martial Arts.
