When practicing Tai Chi the forms are practiced slowly. The movements should contain and exhibit the following characteristics:
A relaxed body, a cultivated, quiet mind, natural breathing. All the movements are circular in content, exhibit both softness and firmness, co-ordination with the lower and upper limbs with the trunk is essential. The forms should be even, continuous, gentle flowing, light and agile. One should exert the correct amount of force, there should be expression
"First in the mind, then in the body,
use the mind to move the chi.
Use the chi to move the body.
The will and the chi are the monarch,
commanding the bones and the flesh
which are the subjects".
The most widely practiced part of the system will be the individual routines, we recommend the twenty four step form for novices accompanied with basic Qi Gong and Meditation practices.
